PROJECT UPDATE!!
Once again we were blown away by the generosity and number of people that supported the project this year. We far SURPASSED our goal and raised a total of:
$47,070
With this money we were able to contribute enough to help complete a basketball court as well as finish several pathways around the property. See below for pictures of the construction process.
Building a BasketBall Court
Athletic opportunity has been very limited at Karubabi Harvest School. This due to the lack of funding for supplies and because the school is located on the side of a mountain! When visiting the school, it is not uncommon to see students playing soccer on a very sloped patch of grass. The photo above shows a ball that the students have made to play with because they don’t have access to real soccer balls.
As part of a larger property development plan, the school has been dreaming about building a basketball court for the students. This project is costly because the property needs to be terraced and a support wall needs to be built in order to create a flat space for a court. To help make this dream come true for the school our goal is to raise $25,000.
